Migrating Your Acast+ Subscribers to Supercast
A Quick Overview
Acast has partnered with Supercast to migrate your Acast+ subscribers, ensure a seamless continuation of your subscription business, and unlock even more growth.
We’ve carefully planned out this migration to seamlessly transition you, your content and your subscribers over to Supercast without any interruption. This document provides a detailed overview of that migration process.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your Acast Partner Manager or the Supercast team at creatorsupport@supercast.com.
What to Expect
As a result of this migration, there will be no interruption to subscriber billing and subscribers will not need to re-enter their card details, or resubscribe to their RSS feeds.
By moving to Supercast, you’ll gain access to:
- Higher revenue potential – Offer more with flexible membership tiers, multi-show subscriptions, email posts, native video support, Ask-Me-Anything episodes, and more.
- More billing options - Annual subscriptions, gift subscriptions, donations
- A seamless transition – When you give your consent, your subscribers will be automatically migrated with no disruption to billing or podcast feed access
- Premium content in all podcast players including Spotify – Your subscribers will be able to listen to your bonus content on Spotify and also discover your premium offering within the Spotify app
- Ownership & control – Payments go directly to your Stripe account, giving you full control over your membership business
The Migration Flow
The steps below outline the migration process in more detail:
- You will be given a link via email to set up your Supercast account, which will have all of your existing content pre-loaded. The link will take you a screen like the one pictured below, where you will confirm your account log in and Supercast landing page URL:
- Before we can schedule the migration of your subscribers and their feeds, you will need to create the Stripe account we will migrate those subscriptions to. This will be the first step you see once you confirm your new account on Supercast.
- By clicking the “Connect with Stripe” button pictured below, you can either create a new Stripe account, or connect an existing one:
You will also see a dedicated onboarding specialist who has been assigned to help finalize your migration. You can reach out to your specialist at any time via email, or use the “BOOK A CALL” button to schedule a time to connect via Google Meet.
- Once you have connected your Stripe account you will be able to book your migration by clicking the “Book a time” button on your Supercast dashboard:
- On the week of your migration:
- Tuesday
- Acast will redirect your landing page traffic to your new sign up page on Supercast
- Acast will email your subscribers informing them about the migration so they know that they do not need to take any action to continue enjoying their premium content
- Wednesday
- Your existing Acast+ subscribers will be seamlessly migrated to your Supercast account (with all subscriber billing information moved to the Stripe account you connected to Supercast in step 2)
- Your subscribers will receive a welcome email confirming that they don’t have to do anything to continue enjoying their premium content. This welcome email will also include a link to connect to their premium feed on Spotify if they would like to use that podcast player.
- Thursday
- Each subscriber’s feed on Acast+ will be redirected to their new feed on Supercast so that their podcast player automatically keeps receiving new episodes
- Tuesday
- Once subscribers have successfully been migrated and received their welcome email, you will see your subscriber count and revenue reflected on your Supercast dashboard like the example below:
- Your new Supercast landing page will now be published as well, with your old Acast+ landing page redirecting to it so you can begin accepting new subscribers immediately:
- Once your migration is complete, you will also receive an automated email from Supercast confirming the subscriptions that were migrated and if any errors occurred through the migration.
- Your onboarding specialist will be available for any follow up questions on the migration and to help ensure you can maximize the full benefits of Supercast to continue growing your subscription.
Creator FAQ
- Why is this happening?
- Acast+ is being discontinued on May 30th and has partnered with Supercast to ensure your subscription business continues seamlessly.
- What do I need to do and by when?
- You must opt in by April 30th to book your migration before Acast+ shuts down. If you don’t opt in by April 30th, your Acast+ offering will be shut down, your subscribers will lose access and you will no longer earn subscription revenue from Acast.
- What is happening to my revenue from Acast?
- Your Stripe account will be transferred from Acast to Supercast; payments will go directly to your Stripe account, giving you full control over your membership business.
- What happens to my subscribers and will they notice a change?
- Once you opt-in, your subscribers will be automatically migrated with no interruption to subscriber billing and subscribers will not need to re-enter their card details, or resubscribe to their RSS feeds.
- What even IS Supercast?
- Supercast is the leading podcast subscription service trusted by creators like Pod Save America, This American Life, Huberman Lab, and Feel Better Live More. We are experts in podcast subscription growth. We’ve built a high-converting, user-friendly platform, with a dedicated creator and subscriber support team so creators can focus on what they do best: creating content that fosters and grows premium subscription communities.
- What happens when I opt-in?
- Once you opt in, Supercast will create your Supercast account with all of your existing content pre-loaded, assign you with a dedicated onboarding specialist to finalize your migration, transfer your subscribers and their subscriptions on your chosen migration date, redirect your subscriber’s premium feeds from Acast+ to Supercast, and communicate with your subscribers about the change.
- What is a feed migration?
- With Acast’s help, Supercast has the ability to redirect the private feed your subscribers currently access content through from your Acast+ account to your Supercast account (think of it like a domain redirect - where you type in xyz.com but are actually directed to abc.com instead). This means that they can continue using the same feed they’re already connected to in their podcast player to listen to your premium content (even though it will now be powered by Supercast).
- When will my subscribers be migrated?
- You can decide the date and time of their migration - at which point your existing Acast+ subscribers will be seamlessly migrated to your Supercast account (with all subscriber billing information moved to your Stripe account).
- What happens to all of my content?
- Supercast will migrate all of your premium content over during the migration process. Your public feed will still remain with Acast and continue to be monetized if you’re in their marketplace.
- When should I tell my subscribers?
- Once the date of your migration is confirmed, Acast will send an email to your subscribers informing them of the move and what to expect. We recommend communicating with them as well in advance of the migration (ideally at least a few days before it occurs). Your onboarding specialist can provide more guidance regarding the specific day/time to send your announcement.
- What and how should I tell them?
- We can provide you with a template to let your subscribers know about the migration - just reach out to your onboarding specialist 🙂
- Do my subscribers have access to a support team?
- Yes! Your subscribers will have access to a dedicated subscriber support team that’s been called the “Rolls-Royce of support.” You can reach out to creatorsupport@supercast.com at any time and our target response time is within 6 hours.
- What is Stripe?
- Stripe is a payments platform that helps you easily accept payments online. You simply connect it to your podcast platform (like Supercast), and Stripe will manage everything from processing credit card payments to sending earnings to your bank account. Stripe is the trusted financial partner to many companies, including Slack, Shopify, Google, Amazon, Instacart and Lyft.
- What are Stripe’s fees?
- Stripe charges a Transaction fee (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) and a Billing fee (0.7% per recurring payment).
- Why do I need a Stripe account?
- Supercast’s philosophy is to put you in control of your own business. Unlike other platforms where the platform owns the customer, with your own Stripe account connected to Supercast, you’ll have 100% ownership of your customer data, as well as your subscriptions. No one will ever be able to get between you and your customers - not even Supercast! You own the financial details and get paid in real-time with every transaction. It’s quick to set up, reliable, and trusted by millions of businesses worldwide, making sure you get paid smoothly and on time every month.
